Marissa's Basketball Game #3

Marissa - point guard

Bright and early we rise for Marissa's basketball game.  Today her team is playing LaGrange.  I am very nervous about the game since the girls on the LaGrange team tend to get out of control. We were also worried there wouldn't be enough girls for our team since Emily and Meg are out with foot injuries, but we were fine.  Mierra Phipps, Marissa, Serina Pina, Eden Thiess, Dominique Miller, and Lexi Cease. 

The game started at 8:00 am.  I was so nervous Marissa would get injured by one of the other team's girls.  UGH!!!  Marissa didn't start because she recommended Lexi to take the jump ball, but she was subbed in quickly after that and played most of the game.  Luckily we got off to a great start 2-2.  As always the games are very low scoring.

In the second quarter Marissa scored 2 baskets in a row, now we are 6 and they are at 5.  We didn't let LaGrange score at all during the 3rd quarter.  In the 4th quarter LaGrange got a shot off due to poor defense, now it is 6-7.  Then Lexi scored on one of her free throw 7-7.  The game is tie.  We take a lot of shots but just couldn't get them to go in.  With less that a minute left in the game LaGrange got a shot off past Eden and scored - UGH!  Now it's 9-7 their lead, but Mierra is fouled on a shot so she gets two shots with only 1 second left in the game.  She takes both, but misses.

It was a very competitive game.  I was so glad that no one got hurt and that everyone had a good time.  We held the lead most of the game and with time and practice we can improve our defense.  Great game girls!
