Back to Back Futsal

Originally Robert was going to have to choose between playing a 10:00 am basketball game or playing a 10:00 am futsal game.  He also had an 11:00 am futsal game (back to back games)

As of Friday he had chosen to play in the basketball game because Mason Rice was still out with injury and he that would allow him one basketball game and one futsal game.  He could assist both teams.  Well, the decision became very easy when the basketball league canceled the game due to more snow that fell over the night.  The roads hadn't been plowed, salted, or treated in any way.

At 9:30 am Saturday morning none of the roads had been treated but we still had to make our way to Tom Sawyer Park for futsal games.  Robert hasn't played futsal in 3 weeks (no games scheduled).  It was great to be back with the Fire boys.

Although Robert had a great game, the boys lost both games.  Robert scored two goals in each game.  When he was goalie - he didn't allow a single goal!  He was so proud of that.  It was huge because he had several attempts at goal.

These games aren't coached like their soccer games.  The coach does a nice job of rotating all boys in all positions.  This gives the boys on opportunity to see what it's like to play goalie, defense and offense, but it also allows for more mistakes when boys are in a position they are not comfortable.  We only lost (in both games) due to inexperience in the goal box.

In the second game, I was lucky to be filming Robert when he scored his second goal.  Here is the video.
