Marissa and Devon ran in the Greater Louisville Meet on Saturday. It was a chilly day, but they were blessed to run at the heat of the day which was only 60 degrees.
Betsy made sure they each had their underarmor to stay warm (prevent sickness).
Marissa was the first to run for our family. She ran in the HS Varsity Girls race at 1:45 pm. This is a fast but crowded course. She got a great start and runs a very strong race. She finished third for the team right behind Shelby Adams and Christina Ausley with a new PR of 20:59 in 59th place. The team came in 6th place. It was great to see Christina run a great race - she is better on the flat courses and it showed today! All the girls on the team got a PR or a SB - way to go NOHS GIRLS!!! So proud of you Marissa. (PS: Marissa is only 16 seconds shy of breaking Jessica's 5K record). Marissa's goal at the beginning of the season was to break 23 - well, today she broke 21 - YAHOO!
Devon ran in the HS JV Boys race that started immediately after the Varsity girls at 2:15. He got a great start and ran a super great race. He finished in 18th place, 6th for his team with a SB of 18:50. After the race he told Mark that he forgot to take his inhaler. DEVON!!! You have to remember to take your inhaler (is the first thing Betsy thought); we are so glad you didn't have an asthma attack on the course (is the second thing Betsy thought) - [probably should have been in the reverse order :(…] Anyway, the whole team did great. Danny came in at 18:35 - so proud of him. He is our neighbor and a freshman on the team. He is working so hard! The team took first place for the race! What a great showing!!!
Robert wasn't able to run at the Greater Louisville because he was up in Indianapolis for a soccer tournament. His team did great - there for seven of the top 12 missing for the boys race - they came in 2nd place (still great). The girls came in first place!
Great day, beautiful day!
