Record Breaking Day

Today was an amazing Cross Country day. Robert and Marissa both got PRs and gave a great performance on the course. AMAZING! But, let's back up and explain...

The middle school girls ran first and then the middle school boys. Marissa and the other 8th grade girls were invited to run up on the NOHS JV Cross Country team, so Marissa didn't run in the middle school race.

Robert's goal was to run a 6:30 mile (set by Mark). Well, amazingly enough - that is exactly what he did - plus he kept a perfect pace. Robert was the 9th runner for NOMS the entire race.
Robert at about the 1.5 mile mark - looking very strong
Robert flying past the 2 mile mark - only .5 more to go
Robert finished the race with a 16.29 PR for a 4K.
WOW!!!! and he only practices one day a week -
imagine if he actually worked at being a good runner.
Robert finished 15th over all and 9th for his team.

The boy's team took 1st place

Marissa was nervous to run with the high school girls. Jokingly, before the race I told the 8th grade girls to "kick the high school girl's butts" very jokingly - little did I know that they really would do it! (sorry for the vulgar language - I'll be better)

The 8th graders that ran up!
Tinsley, Marissa, Kelsey Wohlgemuth, Makenzie Mullin, Paige Menefee, Mallory Price, Kelsey Hall, Sarah Carey, Emma Brazeau, Katie Walker.
From the start of the race Marissa, Katie and Kelsey set a great pace
They look completely comfortable at this stride.
Further into the race, Katie and Marissa pull ahead of Kelsey keeping a great pace pushing each other
Marissa coming up the last hill. There were several hills in this race.
Near the end of the race, Katie pulls ahead but Marissa finishes strong too.
Both Katie and Marissa pass Henry Cty runners near the end of the race.
Emma finished 2nd, Katie 3rd and Marissa 4th overall.
Marissa was 3rd for her team!
WHAT AN AMAZING RACE!
My girl has found her stride and can be very pleased with herself! She raced faster than the slowest Varsity girl for NOHS!
Marissa finished the (very hilly) race at 24.32.
She, too earned a medal, but I didn't get a picture of it.

This was her first 5K and she did fantastic.
