Robert's game against LSA

It's a good thing boys like to play in the mud, because the field is nothing but mud (almost literally).  The field is dormat bermuda grass after a night of rain ... slick, slippery, muddy - a mess.  There are even ruts where the water irrigation machine's wheels roll over the field.  Before the game I made sure Robert knew to be aware of his footing.

Robert started the game as right wing.  He was on the far side of the field so I don't have many photos from the first half.  He had a hard time with his footing, but so did everyone.  He had a good pass to Tanner / Tanner had a shot on goal, but the goalie caught it.  Noah had a shot.  Ryan shot on goal from a free kick, but we still haven't scored.  We are controlling the ball way more than LSA but it's still hard with the field being this messy.  Players are slipping almost every other play.  Having said that, Trent had a great save before we took the ball down.  Ian took the corner kick.  We are chomping at the bit, but no goals.  After 15-20 minutes Robert is subbed out.

First half

Alex down after hitting his head on the side bar

Alex was making a move to catch the ball and ran into the side poll of the goal.  I was way down at the other end of the field and I heard him hit.  I ran to my car and got two ice packs for him.  He appears to be fine, but has a huge goose egg on the side of his head.  He was taken out of the game, and Chitum was subbed in as goalie.  We really don't have a back up goalie - this caught us off guard.

Right after that we took the ball down.  Dillon took a corner kick and Henry headed it in for a goal.  AWESOME - we are up 1-0.  That really got things going again (since we were all thinking of Alex) ... Garrett and Michael both had shots before the half was called.

Robert started the second half.  We took control right away.  Ryan had a free kick but went wide.  He  had another free kick but didn't score.  The game is getting very physical.  Henry went down, Michael went down twice (once on his back and once on with his hand).  Robert was involved in several plays and would set it up nice, but then we'd lose the shot, or we'd kick it wide or to the goalie.  Robert had a shot, but the goalie caught it (the goalie is our friend and previous teammate Matt).  Robert went out with only 7 minutes left in the game.  With only 1 minute left in the game LSA was making a big run, and Ryan P fouled the player while in the box - ARE YOU KIDDING ME.  We should know better than that!!!  It's a PK on the line.  SCORE!  Chitum did all he could, but it's a goal.  Now we are tie with less than a minute of play.

Game ends 1-1.  We clearly outplayed LSA.  It was a good game, too bad about that last goal.
