Marissa hadn't run in a week except for one 30 minute run so she was unsure how this meet would go, and how much conditioning she had lost ... I think she was a little nervous. I told her not to worry about it and to 1) really stretch and warm up so that she doesn't pull or injure herself and 2) just give it all that you got... no worries.
It was not the best night for a track meet. It was raining very hard before the meet, but then it would clear up, then sprinkle, then clear up, etc. all night long. As the meet went on it got colder and colder.
She DID GREAT!!! She ran in two events - the 1600 m and the 800 m. It was a modified meet so there was no 4x800 and no 3200 m.

The mile was the second event of the meet. She came in 2nd for our team only 9 seconds behind Erin Edmondson, and 8th overall with a time of 5:50. That's a great time for this time in the season and especially for not having ran in over a week. WOW!!! GREAT JOB MARISSA!!!
Her second even was while it was sprinkling. They ran the girls and boys together by times so there was a lot of waiting around. Marissa's legs were BLUE just before the race and there wasn't time to warm them up again.

A little more tired from missing training last week |
She ran a great race - she didn't loose time because of it. She ran a 1:17 first lap and then slowed her pace because she got tight and didn't want to hurt herself. She finished with a time of 2:43 in 12th place.
