Marissa finishes 8th at the Lexington Catholic

Last year the Girls cross country team ran at the Lexington Catholic and the Franklin Meet to prepare the girls for the State Meet since it is run on the same course!  Last year Marissa finished right behind Caitlyn Beyea with a time of 21:32 in 18th place.  She did phenomenal.  We were all so impressed - and the team took 1st place at that meet!

This year, Marissa ran at the Lexington Catholic with her team (again to prepare for the State Meet which will be at the same course in three weeks).  I was really sad that I couldn't be there to cheer her on and take photographs.  Mark didn't remember to take photos either, but I'm hoping someone will post them on the Shutterfly web site.

Marissa did fantastic, but she didn't like her start.  She said the started just said, "Runners on your marks" and then shot the gun… no "Get ready" or any prep for the gun.  She was in 12th place at the mile, but really used the hills to her advantage.  One hill she sprinted up to get ahead of a group and then used another hill to sprint down to pass the last set to finish in 8th place with an amazing time of 20:05 (over a minute and a half better than her time last year).  She was a top 10 finisher in a Varsity race again!

The team is so excited as they are preparing for state.  The bad news is that Ally Hall injured her foot and couldn't walk after the race.  They say it is tendinitis.  We all hope and pray that she will have a speedy recovery!  They will need her for state!
