Court of Honor

Tuesday proved to be a busy day for the boys, but one they would not want to miss.
Devon had XC practice after school, but had time to come home, shower and get a bite to eat.
Robert came home after school, but then had XC practice so mom had to pick him and Ben O'Brien up early to make it to the Court of Honor on time.

Ben O'Brien was conducting and Robert was presenting the American Flag and presenting during the ceremony. Both boys ate dinner in the car on the way there.  As soon as they arrived at church they quickly got ready.

The ceremony was wonderful:  first the 11 year old scouts received their merit badges, then the Boy Scouts, then the Varsity Scouts and then the Venture Scouts.

Robert was presented with his merit badges:  Wilderness Survival, Forestry, Kayaking, Shotgun Shooting and Lifesaving.

Devon was presented with some of his merit badges (only the ones from camp):  Shotgun, Pioneering, Orienteering, and Rowing (which he had already earned).  He should have also received Backpacking, Cycling, Climbing and Whitewater from his High Advanture prep and trip.

Devon was also presented with a huge accomplishment.  Devon was presented the Silver Palm - the third palm after Eagle rank.  Brother Taylor Dawson presented him with the Silver Palm.  There are very few scouts that ever earn the Eagle Rank, let alone one palm - Devon earned his third on 8/19/12.

Then Robert and Brandon Hartin told about their experience at scout camp …

and Devon shared a summary and story about High Adventure.

What a great night for the Lowe boys and Troop 170, Crew 170
