Since there was NO SCHOOL on Friday, October 19, 2012 the boys cross country team had decided to take the team to run in a huge XC meet called the Nike Fleet Feet - Wood Invitational.
Devon had to be at NOHS by 8:00 am. The boys and coaches took a coach bus from there to Gainsville, GA (approximately 7 hours). Devon stayed with two boys on the team, Nolan English and David Glenn.
The next day, Devon ran in the JV-A division race at 10:00 (at the same time Marissa was running in KY and Robert was playing a soccer game in TN). He came in 45th place, 6th for the team with a time of 18:24. He said the race was very crowded and he didn't get a great start so he had a hard time making his way through the crowds of people. All in all it was a great race - the JV Team came in 2nd place.
After the race Devon went shopping at the Nike tents. He said they had everything there. He bought a shirt for himself.
Devon came home with gifts - he brought Marissa and Betsy signed autograph cards from Shannon Rowbury (world class runner). That was so nice of Devon to think of the rest of his family.
