Marissa has Bronchitis and Asthma

Immediately after the race at Regionals Marissa felt even worse than she did at school.

She had difficulty breathing and needed to take her inhaler.  She had a good nights sleep, but I let her sleep in as long as she needed.  She ended up sleeping until 12:00 pm - so I told her it was okay to stay home from school and rest the remainder of the day.  She's been taking the medicine but still needed her inhaler and is laboring more to breathe.

Marissa went to school on Thursday, but needed to check out because she felt so bad.  I took her to the Little Clinic as soon as she got out of school.  It turns out she has Asthmatic Bronchitis.  She had a pulse ox of only 92 and a temperature of 99.9 at the start of the appointment.  Marissa required a albuteral nebulizer breathing treatment right there in the office.   She needs to be on Singular, Prednizone, Z-pack, Claritin, Sudafed and breathing treatments at home so she is on Albuteral.

She needed two breathing treatments at home before bedtime.  She is laboring very hard to breath.  It makes me worry so much.  If this were 30 years ago, she would be in the hospital - she'd be in an oxygen tent (like I used to have to be in).

I made her stay home from school on Friday.  Marissa slept in very late.  She's exhausted from the labored breathing.  I know the feeling.  I know how hard this is - she doesn't want to miss school, she wants to do well at the State meet - which is a week away.

I hope and pray she will get well soon!!!
