Marissa Decides to Run TRACK

It was a very tough decision but one week after TRACK season started, Marissa changed her mind and decided to run track for NOHS instead of running the mini-marathon in April.

It was a hard process for me to go through.  I would have liked for her to only consider track, but she has some friends running the mini-marathon and she really wanted to run it with them.  If she weren't such a excellent competitive runner for her team, I'd probably let her, but running the mini will really mess with her fitness come fall for cross country.  I didn't want her to make a "rash" decision about the mini that would have negative consequences later on for  something she loves and gives her all.

She realized that she can run road races, mini's and marathons the rest of her life, but you only get the chance to run for your school 4 years and then it's over.

I was so happy she came to this decision on her own.  I'm so proud of her and would have supported her either way, but I believe this is the better choice.  I love watching her run, and she loves running!

Track started on March 3rd (except we didn't have school that day due to snow) so she missed 4 days running with the team, but that really didn't set her back far since she's been working out and running at the YMCA.

Looking forward to a wonderful track season!!!
