NOMS Soccer - 1st game of the season

3/14/13 - Thursday night (Marissa's birthday) NOMS vs Bondurant.  Tonight is the NOMS Varsity soccer team's first game of the season against Bondurant (Frankfort).  Last time we played this game we were ahead by 3 or 4 goals but somehow lost the game.  At the start of this game I was very hopefull to redeem ourselves.

We have a new coach this season, Coach Wenger.  He played college soccer and loves the game - loves the win.
Robert didn't start the game.  I had to take him early from practices to get to his club team.  Unfortunately, this is held against him and several of the other boys in the same situation, but I respect the coach's decision.  After about 10 minutes Robert was the first to be subbed in.  He went in as the center midfielder.  He made some great connection plays that eventually resulted in a goal.  At half time Varsity is up 4-1.

After the half, all they had to do was defend and the game was their's, but that's exactly what the team didn't do.  Robert didn't start the second half.  Unfortuantely, there was a goal.  4-2.   Then Michael Raybine had a hand ball in the goal box - penalty kick 4-3.  Then another goal 4-4.  Oh, my goodness - what is happening.  Robert is subbed in but the ball just never makes it to the midfield.  Every time we have a shot on goal it is stopped by their goalie, whom then punts it down field.  Our defense wasn't able to stop Bondurant's player #14.

The game ended 7-4.  It was very unfortunate to start off the season with a loss.  Hopefully the coach will make some corrections on the defense line that will help future games.
