Unfortunately, during our dinner Devon called to say that his flight from SLC to Denver was delayed, but luckily his flight from Denver to Louisville was also delayed - so, OKAY, we just have to wait.
Devon made it to Denver. That is were it all went WRONG. First it was delayed until 6:30 take off, then 8:30 pm, then 10:30. Then they were allowed to board the plane at 11:30 - getting him home at 1:30 am, but at 12:45 his time (2:45 am my time) they canceled his flight, unboarded the plane and made everyone stand in line to get a new flight assignment. By the time Devon go to the front of the line (2 and half hours later), they told him they couldn't get him to Louisville until Tuesday - WHAT@!!
I told him to take the next flight to Indianapolis or Nashville. He was able to get a flight to Indianapolis the next day. Next Devon had to find out about his luggage - they have no idea. They said it will arrive in Louisville on Tuesday! WHAT!!! This is terrible service.
While Devon was standing in line, and I was awake, I booked him a hotel room in Denver right at the airport, but when I called to find out about a shuttle, they said my reservation was for the next day - NO!!! I don't need that I need one for tonight. They were sold out. I had to get a room that was 18 miles away from the Airport. Not too bad, but they don't have a shuttle. Devon will have to take a taxi in the snow storm.
The next surprise came when Devon said he called the hotel to let them know he was coming and they told him they were sold out. I called the hotel and said, HE HAD BETTER HAVE A ROOM. I've already reserved it!!! I was furious - but polite!!! They changed their story. They were giving away reservations on a first come first serve basis - I said OVER MY DEAD BODY. I reserved a room and that is my room for the night - even if he doesn't get there for hours!!!
It's now something like 5:30 am Devon's time - 7:30 am my time and I'm watching the sun rise, knowing that I didn't sleep one bit that night! Devon got his room at 6:00 am and went to sleep - so did I. I arranged for a late check out at 2:30 because 1) his flight doesn't leave until 7:50 pm the next day and 2) he didn't get there until 6:00 am.
Devon is without luggage - all he has is his carry-on bag and the same clothes. poor guy.
