Family Vacation - Day 2

Day 2 was going great until around 3:30 p.m.

We started with a good breakfast and a fast start - we left Tulsa around 8:00 a.m. We stopped every 100 miles just to be precautions of the car. Everything was going great. We ate lunch in Amarillo, TX - crossed over into New Mexico, the kids are getting along great and then all of the sudden, PUFF ... white smoke comes up from the back of my car and my transmission starts to slip again.

Unfortunately, this time I am not near an exit. We are stranded on the side of Interstate 40. A very nice young lady pulled over when I did. She was so nice - she stayed with us until the tow truck was on its way.

The tow truck took over an hour to arrive - and the temperature was over 100 degrees.
Since I was traveling with the kids, I had to have them bring a rental car. It was very sad following the tow truck with my baby (van) in tow. We had them tow us to the next exit which was Santa Rosa, NM. The tow truck dropped the kids off at a hotel, while he followed me to the service station.

The worst of it was that it was Saturday evening and all the shops had closed for the evening - and tomorrow is Sunday. Thanks to the internet and cell phones, I was able to find a service station that would look at the car on Sunday. (can't believe I'm saying that).

It was a really long day, and now an even longer night. Can't believe we are stuck in the middle of no where in NM - not near family, not near a Honda dealer, and they don't even have a rental car place in town. We are two hours east of Albuquerque.
