Luckily, we were at an exit, so I was able to drive the car up the off-ramp and directly to a car repair shop. They let it cool down while we ate lunch at the Dairy Queen. (Just a silly coincidence - three years ago on our way to the Lowe Reunion we got a flat tire and the only place to eat was a Dairy Queen - strange).
Well, the guys looked at the transmission, its connections, and everything around it and couldn't find anything leaking. They thought that the dip-stick must not have been pushed in far enough and it blew out. So - AFTER 3 hours of staying at the stop, we were on our way again.
The kids made the final decision - stop when we were supposed to, or go as far as Tulsa - as planned - the vote was to keep driving so we didn't get behind schedule.
We finally arrived in Tulsa, OK around 9 pm, after stopping in Joplin for dinner at Outback. What a long day - I sure hope this is the worst of my trip.
