Miserable Meet - Robert Runs in the Lexington Catholic

Robert had to catch the bus at 6:30 am - UGH!  This meant we had to get up at 5:55 am to make him breakfast and get him ready.  The weather is suspected of being cold and wet so he is going with many layers ...

Under Armor, Uniform top, Shirt, Sweat Shirt, and Rain jacket on the top...
Under Armor, Uniform bottoms, shorts, athletic pants
two pairs of extra socks

Marissa had to catch the bus at 7:30 am - UGH!  Mark took two trips out to the school in one hour, but this meant we didn't have to go back out there to get Marissa's car.  Marissa wasn't running today since she is still not cleared to run yet, but hopefully next week she will be able to run.

The Varsity boys race is at 9:30, and girls at 10:30.  JV boys is at 12:00 and girls at 12:30.  Robert is running in the JV race.  Unfortunately, at 9:00 am it started raining in Louisville - the rain headed due EAST...  By 10:00 am it was raining in Lexington.  At 12:00 pm it was pouring as you can see in the photos.

Robert got a decent start - he was right behind Luc Brazeau.

I couldn't believe the horrible conditions the athletes had to run in...it was cold, wet and miserable!!!  The ground was muddy and slippery.  Several runners went down on the first turn into the other side of the field.  Luckily Robert stayed up and splashed on...

Robert made it around the tight turn!
The course is a very touch course - it is the state course.  Most runners add time on this course because it is tough!

Coming in for the finish!  GO ROBERT!!
Robert did great.  He kept close to Luc the whole race - at some points I thought he would pass him, but then Luc would sprint up just a bit to keep Robert at a distance.  Robert finished in 32nd place with a time of 19:28 - super great!!!
