Mark Lowe, 46 was brutally ambushed by the "Lowe Luck". While at the highlight of his week, the 7 AM - 9 AM basketball game (usually with men 15 years younger than him), he "was in the wrong place at the wrong time." (as he puts it).
Here's the recap. Mark goes to basketball at 6:45 AM. Mark calls Betsy at 8:15 AM and tells her that his lip is bleeding and that he is coming home. He then answers some questions shedding some light on the severity of the accident...blood dripping everywhere - can't get it to stop - think I need stitches.
Mark drives home - Oh my goodness! Stitches are not even a question - the question is how many! We immediately put ice on the lip, and drive him to ER. Luckily we arrived to a nearly empty waiting room and Mark is taken back quickly. It takes the doctor approximately 30-40 minutes to stitch him up. In the end, Mark had four (4) internal stitches and nine (9) external stitches spanning from just under his nose to the underside of his lip.
Okay, my heart has broken - I feel like Job. I don't want to complain, but I really wish we could go a month without a health related issue. In all reality I am very thankful that this issue wasn't more serious and that I am not dealing with something like cancer or worse, but still it is a bit unbelievable how much "Lowe Luck" has been sprinkled upon us.
I don't wish it on anyone else, but I do wish it would go away!
Mark's lip was so swollen and looked so tender and sore! I feel so bad for him. He's a trooper - he went to church and is now on a business trip with those lovely stitches. They come out this coming weekend.
Having fun with it: Mark said he would go as Frankenstein for Halloween! We all had a good laugh!
