A DAY AT WATERFRONT PARK

Waterfront Park is one of my favorite parks in Louisville. It actually is a couple of parks places connected by a walking trail that wonders along the banks of the Ohio River. It is beautiful this time of year with all the foliage.

Today's story (actually 10/21) is quite humorous. The kids are on "fall break" this week. So they are out of school the WHOLE week. It was Wednesday around noon and I decided that we were not going to waste this week just doing things around the house, so amid moans and groans about going, I loaded Jessica, Marissa, Devon and Jern Jern in the car. (Robert is on vacation with his best friend, Aaron in Gatlinburg, TN). Well, once they got there they had a wonderful time. In the end they didn't want to leave...ironic!!!!

Devon didn't know I took this photo. I did took it without him knowing because he "freaks out" if he sees you taking his photo without permission. Devon walking on the Waterfront Trail.
Marissa enjoys the swings along the river front.

The I-65 Bridge - Mark crosses this bridge every weekday to go to work.
It is also the bridge that the massive fireworks display goes off of for Thunder over Louisville!

They are so cute!!!

I love this photo - they are so cute!

Along the walk there is a statue courtyard with Abraham Lincoln. It's a tribute to him! It's amazing because they've left the landscape in tack and added seating with words enscribed on the sides. There are also "quote" walls as you walk up to the statue. One aspect of this statue that really impressed me was that the artist included the Bible in the sculpture. It is the top book sitting next to Abe.

Marissa, Jessica and Jern Jern admiring Abraham Lincoln!

Further along the trial we found another park. One with a massive rock for climbing and a play gym. Devon immediately wanted to climb. He climbed the trees, but that wasn't enough...he found the hardest spot to climb the rock and took the challenge.

"I can do this"

"I did it - now I am coming down"

Jessica also made it to the top of the rock, but Marissa and Jern Jern didn't even attempt it!

Jern Jern having fun on the play set.
See we like to play this game called "bar tag" You have to keep some part of your body (your hand, elbow, foot) on the play equipment at all times while someone else is "it" and they are trying to "tag" you so that you become "it." It is great fun!
Devon, Jessica, Marissa, Mommy and Jern Jern had loads of fun playing this game!

Jern Jern and Marissa are comparable in weight so this worked for them. Marissa didn't have the same luck when she tried it with Devon. Imagine that!

Marissa really liked this unique piece of play equipment. We had never seen anything like it! The city of Louisville is in the background!
