Results of 2nd EEG

Up until today I have been very positive about Jessica's recovery.  It was great news to find out she has syncope - I think we can really manage that without an issue.

But then this came...

We waited all day Thursday for the results
We waited all night Thursday for the results
We waited all day Friday for the results
We waited all night Friday for the results
and then on

Saturday morning, Elder Morrison (the LDS doctor at the MRC) called with the results of her EEG.

She had the same abnormal burst of activity, but this time they tested all lobes of the brain, and the abnormal activity is in all 4 lobes of the brain.  He sounded very sorrowful when he told us this news.  He went on to say that they called Salt Lake about her test results and it was concluded that she would have to take a medical release and return to the USA for more testing and to be with her family.

We aren't exactly sure what this means but he explained that the spikes or bursts are called epileptic tendencies.  He didn't say she has epilepsy, just these tendencies in her brain activity.

We need to find out what is causing them, why they are in all four lobes and what we can do to treat whatever it is that she has.  She has been so brave, but this is a lot to deal with.

the news that she would have to go home was just too heartbreaking for her.

She almost insisted on staying... she later apologized... :)

I have to say that it breaks my hear to see such a beautiful young lady full of joy, love and potential be struck with something like this.  What does this mean?  We feel so sad for her.  She is there all alone having to deal with this news of her health and that she has to leave her mission - of which she has loved every minute of every day!  I have loved reading her stories!  I feel alive through her!  She has the pure love of Christ is her!

I do not doubt that she is in God's care and that everything has a purpose!  She is in the tender care of her Heavenly Father and we have the faith to move forward with Him to tackle this trial!

Later that evening Jessica received a priesthood blessing that gave her great comfort and peace!
