Not only was it the first game for Robert since his injury, but it was the first game for the Javanon team (so in a way it's like he didn't miss a thing - although he missed the entire winter indoor training).
It was very cold outside, even snowing at times. Their first game was really a scrimmage played at the Javanon Soccer Club against Mockingbird's A team. Robert didn't start the game; he came in after 15 minutes and finished the first half. In that time our team scored a goal. We were tie 1-1. Robert didn't start the second half, but again he came in about 12 minutes later and finished the rest of the game. During both halves Robert played a great game - you couldn't tell he had just returned from such a huge injury. He had to wear his brace but no one seamed to mind. I was so impressed with his determination. Several other parents complimented Robert's play since they knew he was coming back from his knee injury.
It was at the very last second (literally) of the game that Mockingbird had a corner kick that was headed into the goal to win the game. Game over - Mockingbird won 2-1.
It was also our first day with our new coach. I felt bad for him - he didn't know any of the players and lad to place them in the game. Carlos had obviously talked to him since he started the same players he usually does. He is having the boys practice 4 days a week. That will really interfere with NOMS soccer. Robert is going to go from no activity to - lots of activity.
