Hi everyone!
This week was pretty busy for us. Even though school will start in a week here we had an eventful week and lots of miracles.
This week was pretty busy for us. Even though school will start in a week here we had an eventful week and lots of miracles.
On Tuesday we met this girl named Jean. She told us that she started the Book of Mormon a month ago and is now in Alma. She said she has read all the missionary pamphlets and thought it was time to meet missionaries herself. We talked with her and she pretty much explained the restoration with us. We asked her all of the baptismal interview questions and she passed all of them!! She said she knew that this was Christ's church and she knew it was true. We than asked her to get baptized on the 27th and she said yes! She said all she has to do is tell her parents who are non-religious. That's one of the biggest concerns people have here in YSA because they have to tell their parents who live far away.
Wednesday we met a girl named Adella, she is from Chez Republic. She has read the Book of Mormon twice now and already asked for a calling at church but has never been baptized. Crazy right! Well we talked with her and she said she wants to be baptized September 3rd. These people are amazing. The Lord really has sent prepared people that are ready to hear the gospel to USU.
Darren, my first baptism here, got to go to the temple with us this week for the first time. Since we have a temple in this mission we get to go to the temple with our recent converts. It was so special and Darren was beaming with joy. It really felt like we were in heaven when we were there. He was so happy he was my first convert to go to the temple with.
On Thursday sister Brunt went to Hyrum because she is over sister Broyles who was my MTC companion. Sister Harmon (sister Broyles companion) came to USU (she is my STL) and she spent the day with me. We had a super busy day and had 5 lessons with a member present. At the end of the day I asked for feedback on what I need to work on. She paused for a couple minutes and then said "I really can't think of anything. You were social, and talked to everyone we saw, you lead the lessons and brought the spirit there, you followed the morning schedule and were obedient. I'm really shocked at how well you are doing for only being out 8 weeks." I was shocked. I didn't realize I was doing that well. Sometimes I really lack confidence as a missionary because I feel like everyone else teaches so much better. This exchange really showed me how much I have progressed since I've gotten here and that there is always something I can work on. On the sad note. So we have been teaching this guy named Nik. He loves the Book of Mormon and knows Jesus is his Savior. He has a word of wisdom problem but is working on quitting smoking, drinking, and drugs.
On
Sunday he didn't come to
church so we went over to his place and he said his roommate is kicking him out and now he has to move across town. We helped him pack and told him missionaries that cover that area can teach him. He was so happy when we said that and said he was sad he didn't make it to church. This has been one of my major struggles being on mission. It's so hard to let these people go and give them to elders in different areas. At the beginning of the transfer we had to hand over most of the people we have been teaching and now everyone is moving. It's a bit frustrating, but it is also selfish. I realized that it doesn't matter who teaches these people, as long as they are coming into Christ and being baptized in Christ's name, I should be happy. So I'm changing my attitude and it's okay if people move as long as they are coming into Christ. I love you all and hope everything is going well where ever you are:)
