But for now, we will celebrate with those that are here. Marissa has a friend, Avery, that has been going to church with us for the past 6 or so weeks. We invited him over for Christmas Eve dinner and festivities.
Work was more busy than I expected it to be, but then everyone talked a lot too. People were wrapping presents (myself included) because there just isn't that much to do when your vendors and customers are closed for the holidays.
Mark made home made cookies and cream ice cream and then took the kids to play basketball at the church. Marissa made all the shots - way to go girl!
Betsy got a nice run in before eating the traditional Christmas Eve Shepherds Dinner. We dressed up again in shepherds outfits - head to toe - and ate by candle light in the family room. Dinner was salmon, chicken kabobs, crab, flat bread with artichoke/spinach dip, and Mediterranean vegetables.
We retold the story of Christ's birth but with a twist adding our opinion on what made it so significant. It was nice to hear all the conversation now that the kids are grown. I feel so blessed to be the mother of such a wonderful family.

After dinner was cleaned up we got into a more festive mood and made our human pyramid again! It was perfect with Avery here.
We also gave Avery a Christmas Eve Present - Since he is hopeful of going to BYU in the fall, we got him a BYU shirt! It's a really nice - dry fit one.

While the kids were changing and Betsy was cleaning up, we didn't realize they were also pulling their mattresses into the Master Bedroom - another tradition! The kids love it! It takes such a long time to get them to settle down on Christmas Eve. It was after midnight tonight - thank goodness Santa didn't come directly at midnight or none of us would have gotten presents.
Merry Christmas!
