Devon - week 16

Many significant events happened this week both fantastic and horrible.  We got a new investigator this week and his name is Conrad.  We had less than 30 mins to teach him.  So we planed on evaluating his understanding of the gospel and also to do "How to begin teaching." The member that was his fellow-shipper asked us if we were going to commit him to baptism.  We said that we would not unless the spirit told us so we did not plan or expect to ask him.  This happened last monday and we left P-day early to go and teach him, it was a good sacrifice.  It was raining that day.  We went to the members house to teach him and saw that he was sitting in the rain waiting for us.  I was surprised to see that.  We went in and talked to him and asked him questions and did "How to begin teaching."  We found out that his step-Mother was a Mormon and had brought him to church before and that he knew a little bit about Mormons.  Since he had no questions or concerns we started to teach the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We were doing good job teaching him. However,we still were not used to the other persons teaching style. Elder Crowley just finished Christ ministry on Earth and Elder Crowley had started to talk about the Apostasy when he turned over the time to me speak about the Great Apostasy.  I felt that we did not cover the Atonement as well as we should have and so I went back and started to elaborate more about the atonement.  This elaboration was different from the times in the past when I would elaborate about the atonement.  This time I talked about the atonement and then explained about the doctrine of Christ and how the atonement and the doctrine work together.  The spirit was super strong there when I was Talking about the doctrine of Christ and the Atonement.  I felt like I should ask him to be baptised but I also felt like I needed to be silent and so I was.  Then Elder Crowley asked him to be baptised!! It was great.  It was a spiritual knockout.  Spiritual comp. unity.  Conrad said yes and his baptism will be 15 of November.

Now for the bad new.  I do not have time to elaborate everything but I will tell you that 2 of our progressing investigators are now just investigators.  One of them asked for a break from us and church.  The other has a husband that told us to never to come back.  He said we had come over 10 times and that was enough. When I asked him why he did not tell us instead he pushed his wife out of the way and slammed the door in our face.  We will not forget them but we will take a break from them.
