Service with a Smile

It's been such a busy week - week and a half but I'm not complaining.  It's been great.

I volunteered to help a friend though a birthday party - like an event planner!  I'm so excited.  I love throwing parties, but my family doesn't so I'm the odd man out.  Luckily I get to help Amber.

We are doing a "Camp Clark" theme for her little boy.  I made a "GONE FISHIN" sheet

This is sideways - sorry
for the fishing pond, and a welcome sign that reads "CAMP CLARK".  Both signs are using camp motifs as the fonts.  For example a cord in the shape of a C is C, A campfire is A, two mountain peeks are M, and a hatchet is P.  It is so cute!  I should have taken photos.  I also made a pendent banner that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLARK" and laminated it.

Today I took over two soccer goals, 4 sleeping bags, and a table plus all the signs and fun stuff.  For games I recommended a nature scavenger HIKE and a coloring table of a "tent" and the kids can add themselves and the background.

So that was project 1:  Project 2 is helping the Love family, Brigetta pack up her apartment and move into their new one.  She has twin babies that are 6 months old and a three year old - if that isn't enough to need help I don't know what is, but on top of that one of the sweet baby girl twins has some serious health issues that require chemo and continuous oxygen.  I packed up on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Unfortunately, I cut my finger pretty deep on Tuesday… ouch!

In addition to all that I have Red Ribbon Week next week at North Oldham High School.  I love putting this week on.  The message is so near and dear to my heart.  I'd love for each and every one of the kids at North to avoid alcohol, drugs and tobacco.  I'd love for them to not use swear words.  I would love it!  Our campaign encompasses more than just avoiding drugs and alcohol - it is "I will Make Good Choices." It is all about making good choices - in school, in a car, at a friends, alone, whatever!

So needless to say, a part of my house has been in constant turmoil and chaos with markers, posters, paper, paint, etc. since last week.  I'm sure Mark and the kids will be glad to get that out of the way.
