Robert's 2nd game with KFJ U15

Betsy drove from Lexington, KY to Evansville, IN (3:30 hours) so that she could be at Robert's second game of the day.  She didn't like missing his first game, but considering he had 2 games in one day, and Marissa was running the State Championship XC race, she'd go to the race and then "race" herself to his second game.

I made it just in time.  We were playing a team called Flood FC (I don't know where they are from).  I should have mentioned in the last post that there are 6 or 7 new players on Robert's team (Ben Carper, Michael Karr, Michael Webb, Alex Mcleary, Ian, Garrett Goodbud, Chidum Okeke).  We were warned it might take a few games for the boys to jell, so coming out with a tie 1-1 was a good start.  The coach is mixing things around to find the right spot for each player.  Robert started as center mid last game and this game he is on the wing.

In the first half, it's fairly competitive until Sam throughs the ball into Robert ...

Robert receives it and does a touch or two…

He makes a pass to get the ball in shot range and  his pass goes right through the legs of #5 on the other team…

The ball finds its way directly to Garrett Goodbud whom shots for a goal!  Great assist and pass by Robert!
GOAL 1-0.

Later on the Flood team scored so the score goes to 1-1.  But then just before the half is over, Chidum brings the ball down and passes to Robert (under high pressure).  Robert shields the ball very well ...

and plays the ball to open space right next to him ...

Then he lines the ball up for a shot …

and it's good!  Goal by Robert Lowe!!!
GOAL - score 2-1!!!

The first half ended 2-1 our lead.  Robert started the second half and played the rest of the game.  In the Second half the Flood came back out and scored a quick goal 2-2.  It looked like we weren't prepared.  There is a lot of play, ball going back and forth … then one of our players draws a foul in the box giving the Flood a PK.  They score 3-2.  Ouch!!!  We need a goal to get back in the game.

With only 3 minutes left in the game, Dillon scores from within the box making the final score 3-3

Game ends 3-3.  WAY TO GO FIRE!!!
