July 4th

Jessica soaking up some sun
What a perfect day for the 4th of July, Independence day celebration at the Glen Oaks Pool.  Mark and I went to the pool around 11:30 only to find it so crowded that there were no lounge chairs available.  We pulled up two regular chairs for us.  It was approximately 95 degrees.  Everyone was in the pool.  The DJ started the music and games at 12:00 and the kids (Marissa and Robert) showed up around 1:00.  We had a great time playing football catch with them in the pool.  After a while it just got too hot so we packed up and left around 3:00.

And down they go ...
Mark and I spent some time working on the patio.  We are at the point where we have pulled up 90% of the grass but now we need to haul it away.  Mark and Betsy loaded 18 large containers full of pulled up grass.  Mark hauled it away while Betsy started dinner.  It is a super long project Betsy started but when it is done, it will be wonderful for the family to enjoy!

Betsy made barbecue chicken, pasta salad, chips, bread and corn for dinner.  Mark actually grilled the chicken outside.  He does a great job.  After dinner we had watermelon for dessert.

Soon it was time for Fireworks.  Jeff Amonz, our neighbor, always puts on a great fireworks show right in front of the house.  We are so lucky!  Betsy took watermelon over to everyone watching the fireworks.  She also gave away the pasta salad to Maureen since we are leaving then next morning.

After fireworks it was time to pack for the trip.  It's been such a busy day, it's still hard to believe we are leaving on a four day trip to King's Island, OH… Cedar Point, OH … Toledo, OH … and Howell, MI for our nephews' baptisms.
