Fun time at the Carowinds

While we were in North Carolina, we drove down to Charlotte to go to the Carowind's Amusement park.  We left Winston Salem at 8:30 so we could be there right as the park opened.  It was AWESOME to say the least.  It actually was very similar to King's Island, which we had just been to on 7/20.    Our mission was to ride all 13 roller coasters.  We road the Intimidator first, then Night Hawk, then Vortex.  (3)

Betsy and Kathy in line for Night Hawk

Then we road Ricochet, which everyone loved.  It is just like the Road Runner at Kentucky Kingdom.  Then ate some lunch (I don't think that was a good idea for me).

After lunch we road the Hurler four times (I only road it 2 times), the girls did the Screamweaver.  (6)

We followed that with a ride on the Carolina Cyclone, the Caroline Goldrusher, and the Carolina Cobra (seen to the right).   That was all the roller coasters in that area so we made our way to the north end of the park to ride Afterburn and Thunder Road.  It looked like Thunder Road was closed so we decided to ride the first ride, Intimidator again instead.  Intimidator is just like Diamondback at King's Island - it's a thrill! The Intimidator goes up soooo high!  That was it for us.  We were on our way back home around 4:00.  We didn't ride a few, but they were kiddy roller coasters - we were fine with that!
