12/15/10
Earlier this month I had been contacted by Leslie Coombs and Tammie Bibb at Hilliard Lions regarding American Mothers, Inc. At first I was a little confused, wondering what their interest was, but as our conversation developed I thought they were interested in volunteering for the organization, as she represented The Charitable Contributions Committee. Both were so kind in our conversations - especially since the timing was difficult for me. First, Sandy was coming for a visit, second we were going to Toledo, OH and third Kirk Birtagnole's passing.
Well, it was a good thing that I took the time to share with them about American Mothers, because on 12/15/10, I met them for a meeting were they presented to me a $2500 grant to benefit American Mothers.
To put it simply, I was shocked - amazed - and in awe of their generosity.
They had searched out our organization and found AMI on the web. I will be able to reach out to so many more, offer more programs and help more families - I'm so excited.
Ironically, this gift came at a time when I was personally considering retiring from AMI. I had spent 16 years serving in various capacities and really needed more help to do the job, or it was time to let it go...and this was an answer. Heavenly Father doesn't want to see this work end. I am rededicated to finding more volunteers to help bring positive change to families in Kentucky.
