Hiking Mount Timpanogos

Starting off
Saturday morning - bright and early - we decided to hike Mount Timanogos.  Jessica didn't get to hike it with us when we did it in 2013.  Jessica and Tate picked up Devon and met us at Robert's dorm where we waited for him for a little bit (we weren't sure if he was going to wake up or not).  After we had everyone we drove up to Mount Timpanogos (Timp).  We started around 7:30 am.  (We wanted to start by 7:00 but we had some tired people).  While hiking we found out the Robert hadn't gone to bed until 4:00 am.  So he only had 2.5 hours sleep.  YIKES!  HE's a trooper!  We are so glad he made the hike even with such little sleep.
Today the temperature was much colder than the time we did this hike before.  We all started off in sweat shirts.  BRRR.
We took the yellow and orange trail.

Our first destination is to the waterfall.  It's about 1 hour into the 9 hour hike.

Our next stop was about half way up - this is looking back at Aspen Grove.

This is how far we still have to go

About 2/3 of the way there is Emerald Lake or Glacier Lake.  We had lunch there.  Jessica and Tate packed sandwiches for everyone.  They were delicious.  By this time in the hike Betsy's asthma has set in hard.  She enjoyed the long break here - giving her a chance to catch her breath.

When we got to the Saddle (90% there) we saw mountain goats on the ridge to the right of us.  We had never seen them.  They were not afraid of people and came down, very close to us.  AMAZING!

At the Saddle - you are at 11,000 feet above sea level.  The view is amazing!

The mountain goats came this close - no voom

Mom and Devon - precious

The summit is the very top of this peak

Our hike took 10 hours.  We were all tired and hungry.  We decided to eat at a Brazilian restaurant called Rodizio Grill.  They bring meat out of swords and shave off as much as you want.  Not only was the service amazing but the food was delicious.  We loved every minute of it and tried so many different meats.  Everything was tasty.
