Hello everyone!
The weather this week has been crazy!!
On Tuesday night we got out of a lesson super late, and by the time we got out we should have been in our apartment!! And we were Like 30 min from home (we have no car so we walk everywhere), and the second we walked out we saw lightning and seriously every second it lightning! It then started to thunder and then we thought to ourselves "oh crap” it's going to start pouring down rain here soon! And right when we said that all the street lights went out. So it was pitch black and we couldn't see anything in front of us...pretty creepy! And then of corse it started down pouring and the wind was so strong. Luckily we received a miracle and a couple drove past us and asked us if we wanted a ride and of corse we said yes!
On Thursday we were walking on campus just trying to talk to as many people when it just started down pouring again. This time there were no cars insight because we were on campus. We were about 20 minutes away from our house, so we walked home in the rain and we were drenched from head to toe! These member girls dropped off pizza for us and we had that for dinner at our flat which was so nice!
So this week was homecoming week at USU! Yeah... Fun stuff! On Saturday night there was a football game that the Aggies were playing. Since no one would be home that night, we walked from the REC center all the way down the hill towards the stadium (it would take about 10 minutes). As we walked, we would talk to people walking down with us. We did this giant hill about 10 times in a row! It was pretty funny because the people who were directing parking saw us each time and would say, "another round?" We'd always say, "yep, everyone's here at the game so might as well try!" We weren't having too much success, so we stopped on the way up and were trying to figure out what we should do next. Then this girl, Fofame (from west Africa), walked up to us. I had knocked her door about three weeks ago and met her the first day she came to America. She is Muslim and we walked her to the game. She said that she would read the Book of Mormon introduction. So all in all homecoming was a success for us even though the Aggies lost:( The Lord has really blessed us with miracles this week!!
Another miracle: one day we were just knocking doors and we came to this house and this old guy, Roger, answered. He said, "hey I have two fella's for you two sisters to meet!" So we followed him as he directed us. We came to this house and these two guys were outside working on their lawn (they live in an old rent home). The old guy said "look guys I found two people who can baptize you now!" We all just laughed and started talking to them. Tony is Catholic and Grant isn't religious. They said they looked up cheapest schools in America and found USU at the top, haha. Roger bore his testimony of how he came to know the Book of Mormon was true and he even began to cry, I could really feel the spirit testify. We gave the two boys a Book of Mormon. This was such a tender mercy to me because of how amazing Roger was and how fearless he was to preach the gospel in a non threatening and funny way:)
Okay last miracle because I know my email is getting long. So everyday we walk on campus and do the same loops each time. We met this guy named Ethan and gave him a Book of Mormon. He came to church this week and he has great support from his friends. He had to leave after sacrament because his mom called (he is from Iowa) and something is going wrong in his family. Eliana, his friend, texted us Sunday night and told us that Ethan told them that he read the introduction of the Book of Mormon and started reading the first chapter for comfort. My companion and I were so happy like literally beaming with joy when we read her text. The Lord is really blessing us with miracles and I am so grateful to be a missionary and get to see how the Lord works in these peoples lives.
So overall, it was a pretty good week. I don't know what has happened to me, but ever since I have become a trainer, I have become so much better at leading lessons, planning our days, and being confident in myself as a missionary. When I was being trained I always felt inadequate and not good enough to be a missionary, but this calling is really helping grow as a missionary and I'm actually grateful for this calling. We had to speak in front of all the ward mission leaders, ward missionaries, and high council men and gave a presentation of what missionary work is like being in Logan and I didn't even get nervous which is crazy because I always have stage fright. I know the lord is using me as his instrument here on earth and I am so grateful for this gospel and the strength it gives me each and everyday. I love you all and remember the miracles that God has done for you this week and I promise that your weeks will continue to be blessed.
