Power of Positive Parenting Lesson #1

Make Time for Positive Interactions

It is easy for parents to find joy in the good/happy moments of life.  When you child eats their meal without complaining or even compliments it, when they don't complain about going to bed on time.  When they are happy to go shopping with you even when you might not want so many tag alongs... but it's the time when the are not making life enjoyable, when they are doing something they shouldn't, when they are arguing, when they are talking back ... that we need to ...

TAKE TIME TO STAY CALM before we react, respond, etc.

When you are angry counting to 10 is good advise
Take a deep breath - then another if needed before you respond
Walk out of the room and then back in to cool down

Avoid making decisions, issuing ultimatums, reprimanding and laying down the law when you are angry.
