Today was Mother's Day. It was the best Mother's day ever. As a mother you hope and pray that your children are learning from you. That the things you tell them 100 times a day are indeed at some point sinking in.
Today was my day. Today Devon gave the Youth Speaker talk in Sacrament meeting. He refused to let me hear his talk before giving it. "You have to hear it like everyone else," he said. "Ugg!" I was worried. What surprises, what embarrassing surprises would he include? To my great joy, he gave an extremely enlightening talk. I learned, after all those times of saying the same thing over and over, it had sunk in. He got it...and more than that, he had picked up on some things that people normally don't get until they become a parent themselves. WOW! What a great son - what a great talk.
Not two hours later, Robert gave a talk in Primary. This was even scarier - what would Robert say. He tends to test the rules more than Devon, and finds himself with more consequences than any of my other children. However, again, to my great delight, Robert gave a glowing talk about BETSY. "B- Beautiful, E-Example, T-Teaches me, S-Sacrifice, and Y-why do I love her"
Jessica made me a gigantic poster with pictures of me with each of my kids when they were little and now that they are older. She must have put in hours of work.
Marissa wrote me the most beautiful card - pages and pages of thoughtful words just for me to hear.
No one could ask for a better Mother's day. It was fabulous.
