Senior Week for Tennis

On Friday, April 21, 2017 Betsy and some friends from the Tennis team met her at the school and they decorated the lockers, hung the mini-mes and the senior posters!  What a blast.  Betsy loves doing this for the senior students.  We had one girls senior - Katherine Kelly, and the seven guys, Robert, Mitch, Jack Stewart, Jack Dugan, Aiden Kuhn and Prateek.

Then on Monday, April 24, 2017, we hosted our last home games so Betsy had signs made for each senior, balloons, cake and water bottles for everyone.  It was  a nice celebration for everyone!!

Before the game we had a moment to appreciate the teachers or coach that the senior players appreciate the most.

Robert chose Mr. Pete Williams.  Mr. Williams was not only Robert's AP Calculus teacher, but he was also Robert's first soccer coach.

Robert had a great game for senior night.  He donated his starting spot so that other players that do not normally get to start get to start.  It's a shame all 15 players couldn't start.

Senior night is so much fun!!!  Robert passed to Mo for the first goal.  Robert kept trying to set Matthew Morris and Nathan Ball up for goals (since they play defense - they are to only other seniors that hadn't scored all year).  Finally Matthew scored the second goal of the night.  Ryan Geogehan scored the third goal of the night.  The players had so much fun!!!  Team managers, Zack Gaubert and Drew Bailey also got to play tonight.

Cannot believe this day has finally come.  Robert was very excited for this day.  He has a busy and challenging schedule this year.

Robert fills my heart with joy - he is amazing!  He always gives 100% effort in everything he does.  He has run cross country, played soccer for 4 years, played tennis, done track, played basketball in the church league, continued in scouting, earning his Eagle and his Varsity Denali, and his Venture Discover.  I couldn't be more proud of him.  He has great goals and ideas for his future.  Today starts the last year of high school ... make it the best!

Robert Makes NOHS Soccer Tryouts

I don't want to make it sound like we knew he would, but we are so excited for this season - bringing these seniors together for their last year.

There are 13 seniors on the team:  Robert, Mason Rice, Parker Vicich, Nathan Ball, Matthew Morris, Ryan Geoghegan, Jack Kinnison, Nathan Clark, Holden Thompson, Morgan Mendoza, Michael Raybine, Wilton Stone and Michael Shultz.

I'm so excited to see this team come together - their is a great brotherhood since most of these boys have played together since they were very little.

Senior Night for Shines!!!

Just before the Oldham County Championship meet, the seniors from all three schools were recognized on the football field.

They started with the athletes from North Oldham High School.  In alphabetical order, parents escorted their son or daughter across the football field.  Marissa Lowe was the third to be announce!

Betsy brought her a bouquet of red roses, and Marissa had two carnations for her.  Betsy is so proud of all that Marissa has done over the years as a runner and especially all that she has done in high school.  Marissa brings me so much joy!!!  I feel so blessed to be her mom and have these special experiences.

Congrats to Marissa and all the other seniors that have invested so much time and effort into their track and field career!  They will remember this forever!

I can't believe my little girl is growing up so fast... here we are with another reminder that she is a Senior in high school.

Tonight was Senior Recognition Night for the girls Cross Country Team.  They were recognized at the boys high school varsity basketball game during half time.

Betsy was responsible for the festivities.  She bought two cakes, got Marissa flowers and had fuzzy fleece blankets for each of the 11 seniors.  They were escorted by their parents out to the middle of the basketball court one at a time in alphabetical order.  Christina, Emma, Kelsey Hall, Marissa Lowe, Makenzie Mullins, Mallory Price, Jesse Sanders, and Katie Walker.  Caroline Butler, Erin Olsson and Kelsey Wohlgetmuth were not able to make it.

After they were introduced we had a small celebration in the lobby of the gym with cake for the girls, their friends and family.

Homecoming Dance

For Marissa's senior year she decided to go to homecoming with her friends.

She went dress shopping with her sister earlier and found a beautiful dress and jewelry to accessorize the outfit.

Saturday afternoon the girls got ready and then met at Kelsey Hall's house for photos!  It was Mallory Price - Homecoming Queen, Emma Brazeau, Caroline Butler, Makenzie Mullin, Kelsey Hall, Marissa Lowe, Kelsey Wohlgemuth, and Katherine.

These girls have been friends for the longest time - middle school and some earlier.  Emma was one of Marissa's first friends. Mallory was chosen as Homecoming Queen at the football game the previous night!  Everyone was so excited for her.  Katie Walker and Christina Ausley were also in the homecoming court - all three cross country runners!

Marissa had a wonderful night out with her friends.  It started with dinner at Qdoba (go figure) and then off to the dance.  I'm sure there is more to the story, but I'm the mom ... well, it's just not the thing to tell me ALL about it ... but I sure am glad she had a wonderful fun and safe time!
