It was a wonderful break, but like all breaks it had to come to an end.
This particular break seems especially hard to get over. Monday night I was dreading Tuesday morning - getting up early because Robert has Seminary, family prayer and then off to Sullivan University. Robert has school after Seminary so it's back to the same ole thing for him too. Even Mark took the week between Christmas and New Years at a relaxed pace (some days off) so he too has to adjust to going back to work.
Luckily for me, this is my LAST quarter at university!!! I'm so excited to be done, but in order to be done, I have to take 5 courses = 20 credits this quarter. OH MY GOSH! What was I thinking?

2013 First Day of School
On August 13th a Tuesday, the first time ever, the kids had the first day back to school. Marissa is a Junior this year and Robert is a Freshman. We have such great kids! We are so proud of them and very excited for them to be together in high school.
| Marissa 16, Robert 14 |
The first day of school is also the first day of Seminary. They leave the house at 6:50 am for seminary that starts at 7:10. They are in class until 8:00 am. School starts later this year - not until 8:45 so that give Robert and Marissa 45 minutes between Seminary and School - too much time in my opinion. Hopefully they will use the time wisely.
This year Marissa can drive to school. She has her permit right now, but in a month she will take her driving test and then she will be able to drive Robert and her to Seminary.

First day of school
Wednesday - 8/15/12
Today is the first day of school.
Devon is officially a Senior - this is his last year at NOHS. It's crazy to think of…and it's a little down played because Devon doesn't make a big deal of things like this, but it's still very significant to me. He is taking a very hard load; AP Spanish, AP Lit, Teacher Aid, AP Physic, AP Calculus and Psychology.
Marissa started her Sophomore year. She is excited to see her friends again and start her year. She is very prepared and very well organized for each class. Her classes are: English II, World History, Algebra II, Chemistry, 3D Art, and Spanish I.
Devon and Marissa left for Seminary after family prayer at 6:45 am. They were a little late so mommy could get a photo. Seminary starts at 7:10 am at the home of Sandy Simpson (she lives in Longwood - across for the school).
Robert started his 8th grade year today. He is not happy about returning to school. He says it's too much pressure, although he looked great in his new clothes. He is taking Science, Algebra I, Language Workshop, Social Studies and his related arts classes are Computer Technology, Investigations, and Sports and Fitness. He is not happy about computers but he is thrilled to have Sports and fitness. Robert rides the bus with friends: Jackson Heagy, Alex Green and Ben O'Brien. The bus comes at 7:40 am (sharp).
Today was a great start to a new year!

First Day of School and Seminary
Today was the first day of school in Oldham County. Robert is going into 7th grade, Marissa is starting high school as a Freshman and Devon is a Junior. WOW! They are really growing up so fast.
Devon and Marissa leave the house around 6:45 every morning to attend a religion class called "Seminary". This year, for the first time since we've done Seminary, it is being held at a member's home across from the high school. Seminary starts at 7:10 and ends at 8:00. School starts at 8:30 so that gives them plenty of time to get to school.
Devon is taking English III, Physics, Pre-Calculus, AP Gov, Engineering Concepts and Spanish III
Marissa is taking English I, Biology, Geometry, US History, Health/PE, and Humanities.

Robert's bus comes at 7:40. He and his best friend, Aaron Green catch the bus at the same stop.
The house will be very quiet today until 4:30 when Robert will return on the bus. Marissa and Devon will go to XC practice immediately after school every day. I will pick them up at 6:00.
Robert is taking English, Advanced Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Dramatic Performance, Chorus, PE, and Health. (PE 1st trimester, Health 2nd trimester, and Art 3rd trimester).

First Day of School
The kids are all back in school. It's a very odd feeling after having the joy of having them around all summer. It was also strange in that Jessica's school didn't start for three days after school started for Devon, Marissa and Robert. I was able to have some fantastic one-on-one time with Jessica over those three days.Today Jessica started her second year of seminary. She is now a sophomore. Devon started 8th grade and already loves it. Marissa is the shocker - 6th grade student in middle school and already running cross country for the school. Robert is in 4th grade - NO WAY. Jessica entered 4th grade when we moved here. I can't believe they've grown up so much.
