Week 72 - AJ, CJ and TJ get Baptized - Tyler gets Baptized

Exciting things this week!

First and for most... TYLER WAS BAPTIZED!! Whoot whoot! It was such an amazing baptism. We found Tyler only two weeks ago but he has been prepared by the Holy Ghost and is now the newest member of Jesus Christ's church:)

Also.... AJ, CJ, and TJ were baptized!!! Hallelujah! I've been teaching them for 7 months straight when I was in Nibley and they finally were baptized this week!! I got to go back and speak at their baptism and it was just so great. My heart is full.

Okay so other awesome miracles. We met with Jospeh this week (new investigator) and taught him and he is now on date for baptism for November 4th! Yeet! His daughter passed away last week and we helped serve at the funeral and that's when we first met Joseph and he asked us to teach him more about what we believe about the after life. He seems super interested!

We also met this guy named Gary who came to church with his return missionary best friend and he wants to learn and take the lessons from us. We also tracted into a girl named Hailey who is 17 and she was interested in the missionary lessons and is open to baptism! MIRACLES PEOPLE! The Lord is just blessing us so much! Ahhh it's just so wonderful.

I'm starting to really like the area. Still trying to learn it all… it's HUGE! The thing is about down here is the people are really nice but they talk your ear off. People just love to talk. We will be walking and then stop someone on the street and they will just talk forever... like we talked to this non-member this week who literally talked to us for an hour on the street about stories in his life. He would not get to the point. My feet were dying and My legs were real tired after that conversation... and he wasn't interested...sadly:(

Okay so over the course of my mission I meet a lot of people who ask "has your mission changed you. Are you a changed person because of the mission?" And the answer is no. My mission hasn't changed me. I'm not a changed person because of my mission. On my mission I have come to know how to draw unto Christ. Am I changed? Yes. But it is Christ who has changed me. Christ has changed my life not my mission. Christ has made me want to become more like him and change for the better. In the scriptures it says "Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God. Behold, they were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word" Alma 5:7

Mighty change comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ - Simple obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Change is about becoming. It is what we have become not who we were. We need to become one with Christ, have his doctrine embedded in our hearts, and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ changes us for the better:)

Week 69 - Gracie got Baptized

Miracles. Miracles. Miracles.

So as you can tell this week has been a week of miracles! It's just been so amazing and a great way to end the transfer.

So today is Pday and transfers.... And I will be white wash training and going to be in North Ogden in the Pleasant View South Stake!! I’m sad to leave my beautiful Nibley. It's truly such a blessed area. So many miracles that have happened here. Nibley has my heart but I know that this is where I need to go and that the Lord will bless us as I stay diligent and be obedient. I'm also super nervous to white wash train because I know nothing about this area I'm going to, but I know the Lord will be with me and help me do what he needs me to do.

Okay so now for the miracles!!! So remember the James (CJ, AJ, TJ), well we haven't been able to meet with them for like 2 weeks and then we finally met with them this week. We got the mom to open up about what holds her back from coming to church. We resolved her concern and the whole family came to church Sunday!!! It was the best thing ever. We then had a meeting with the family and the bishop and they set the date of baptism for October 14th and it is solid now and they asked the bishop to baptize them since the dad is not worthy to. I can't believe this miracle. I’ve been working with the James since I got to Nibley (7 months ago) and now they are gonna get baptized! Holla! Sad I'm leaving, but I they asked me to speak at the baptism, so I'll be back:)

Okay also, Jean, who I taught when I was on usu and got baptized September 10th last year. Wellthis week I got to go through the temple with her!!! It was such an amazing experience and I just am so proudof her. #MissionDreamsComeTrue

Also GRACIE GOT BAPTIZED!!! Whoot! It was such an amazing baptism. Her whole inactive family came to support her and everyone was crying as we shared the restoration with them. It was so special!

Hmmm what else there are so many! We found some new investigators this week and are still working and helping our other investigators progress. It's been an Amazinnggggg week!

I'm so sadddd to leave this beautiful place. Im sad to leave Sister Vea but she'll do great here in Nibley. I know change is good and that this is where my mission president needs me. And maybe I can see some of my Ben Lomond peeps:))

I love being a missionary. Can't believe I only have two transfers left:((((( fingers crossed at conference they announce sisters can be out for two years. I love it here. I'm so so so grateful to be called to this wonderful mission and I'm just filled with so much joy being a missionary because the spirit is with me so strong. I love you all!!!

Week 65 - hard times

This week we've had some hard times but also some amazing miracles so it's been a fun mix.

So to start with the good stuff… First, Jean (my third convert who got baptized September 10th 2016) texted me and said she's planning to get her endowments out in the month of September and wants me to come!!! So Sister Brunt and I will get to see her go through the temple which is the missionary dream!! First baptism then temple, ahhh God is so Good!

We had an interesting lesson with Scott and Miranda (new investigators). We went to teach the  restoration to them but their neighbor came over and totally bashed on Jospeh Smith and stuff like that (yeah not fun) but the cool thing was that before we could even speak, Scott (who isn't Mormon) spoke and said "I don't believe that, there is no way a 14 year old boy could write the Book of Mormon. I believe he is a prophet." Holy Moley! Yeah so he stood up for us and shut the guy up and then we gave him and Miranda a Book of Mormon and have a return appointment!!!

We had an amazzzzzzing lesson with this guy named Jimmy. He's been in and out of prison and has met a lot of missionaries, but he really opened up to us. I could write a lot about the lesson but to keep it short I'll just say the spirit was so strong and it was such amazing lesson!

Okay so hard things this week. The James (CJ, AJ, TJ) still didn’t come to church...grrr parents. Gracie's baptism date was pushed back because of family things.... and Kyla's baptism date was pushed back because of family problems…. yeah it's been a stressful week.

God blessed us with some amazing miracles this week, but we also had to go through some trials which were hard but that's what missionary work is. We can still find so much joy through the hard times. Missionary work can be so stressful because you just are constantly thinking about your investigators and how you can help them. It’s stressful when complications come up and it hurts your heart because you love these people so much.

I read Alma 31:31 and to briefly state it, it says, "O Lord, my heart is exceedingly sorrowful; wilt thou comfort my soul in Christ." This scriptures has never been so powerful to me than this week. After a hard day, we got home at night and I opened up the Book of Mormon for some comfort and this was the verse I turned to. God is so mindful of each and everyone of us.

My soul has been comforted in Christ. I'm eternally grateful for my Savior. I know the things I go through are nothing compared to the pain and suffering he went through. He’s my perfect example and I'm forever in debted to him. The mission is shaping me to think, feel, and be more like him and I never want it to stop. I just want to be like him.

Week 64

Hmmm... I don't even know where to start. It's been a busy week! We found 5 new investigators this week. We have 5 investigators on date for baptism. And 3 investigators came to church. So this week has been awesome!

We were sitting in church waiting to see if our investigators would come and it was now 11:03 and sacrament had started so you know us missionaries were worrying. But, then Gracie and her whole family walked in and sat with us. Literally my mood went a whole 180. I was so happy they all came! Gracie is still on date for September 2nd and her family is becoming active again so it's been so amazing to teach them all:)

We taught the James kids (CJ, AJ, and TJ) and they finally accepted a date to be baptized for September 16th. We taught them the word of wisdom while they all were drinking tea right in front of us and at first they said "there is no way We will give up tea" but by the end of the lesson they said that this would be their last cup of tea. Miracles. We just got to get them to church... which they were planning to come this Sunday but then last minute flaked, so that was a bummer...

Sister Vea and I are doing great. Each day something amazing happens and I love seeing the miracles God blesses us with. Like we met this catholic lady and she told us she wasn't interested, but as we taught her the restoration on her door step and sister Vea shared her conversion story (she grew up catholic) the lady asked us to come back and teach her whole family!!! Miraclessss.

Well that's all I can remember from this week. Missionary work is so fun. I just love each and everyday. In sacrament a return missionary that went to Arizona spoke about how he complained a lot at the beginning of his mission but then his companion asked him a question that changed his life, he said "who do you love more? Yourself or the Lord?" He said it changed his whole mission. I think we can ask that question to ourselves in everything we do. As we do that it will keep us on the path that leads to Heavenly Father.
