Okay, I love a surprise but when Marissa told me that a friend of her's from school wanted to attend BYU - I was stoked.
Avery is a great guy. I've know him since he and Marissa attended North Oldham Middle School together. He was in chorus when I subbed it for so many long months.
Anyway, Avery learned that he can go to BYU and was attracted to the honor code and campus environment. He filed out the entire application until he got to the part that said ecclesiastical interview. That's when he needed to ask Marissa what that meant.
She invited him to church and he had an interview with Bishop Bednar of the Crestwood 2nd ward (since Avery lives in that ward boundaries).
We had Avery over for dinner that night!
What a special treat to invite such a great guy over for dinner and to discuss the gospel and BYU!
