Marissa competes in NOHS Quad Meet

The NOHS Quad meet is held at our track and field.  It starts around 5:00 - everyone expects it to go on until 9:00 or later.  Last year it was a Tri meet with only three teams, but this year we have 4:  South Oldham, CAL, and KCD.  There are good athletes at all 4 schools.  The weather leading up to the Quad had been nice everyday with temperatures in the mid 70s and 80s but today - as you can see from the photos - the temperatures dropped to the 40s.  This is a recipe for disaster in the Lowe house.

Marissa with her friends on the wall:
Cecia, Katie Walker, Cassidy Price, Mallory Price, Tori Simpson, Marissa Lowe, Dina Fahmi, Brittney Logsdon, Miranda Conway, Erin Didier
Today Marissa is running the 1600 M and the 3200 M - that's 3 miles in one day.  She didn't run the 4x800 to reserve energy for the other two long distance races.

Sophomores:
Kelsey Hall, Marissa Lowe, Kenzie Mullins, Katie Walker, Mallory Price, Tori Simpson
Because it's a home meet - parents have to work events.  I had to work the shot put so I wasn't able to take photos until the event was done.  So ... Danny Walker took photos at the 1600 M for me.  Marissa looked so amazing!  She came in 2nd place with at time of 5:51.60 leaving some for her 2 mile.  Way to go Marissa!

Later that night they ran the boys and girls 3200 M together.  All the North runners got a great start as you can see in the photo.  David Turkula and Luke Cummins in front with Marissa and Erin Edmundson right behind them and in front of all the girls.  This is a long race - 8 laps around the track.

The meet was amazing; we won by a landslide with 93 points over South with 54.  What was most amazing about the meet was that it was finished in 3 hours.  We were done by 8:00.  It was a shame they didn't give out medals - Marissa would have had 2.  Way to go NORTH!!!
