Running the Anthem 5K as a family

Jessica, Katie, Robert, Marissa, Devon behind Marissa and Betsy

Ready for the race to start - we are center frame
2/26/11 - A few months back our family decided we were going to run the Anthem 5K as a family.  Well, that was before Mark had to have surgery on his elbow, so now he's unable to run however we had already paid for his spot in the race…so we invited Katie Walker, one of Marissa's cross country friends that has a very similar pace to her to run in Mark's place.  It was a great morning to run.  Cold, but not rainy!  Devon found his scout leader, Brandon White - the two ran together.  Marissa is with Katie, Robert is with Jessica and I am the turtle.

This year they had to change the course because Frankfort Ave was flooded.  Yikes, Betsy wasn't too happy about this, but really, what can she do?  NOTHING!

The race starts and everyone is off in front of me … and the times come in that way too.
Jessica came in at 20:44 (2 minute improvement from last year)
Devon came in at 21: (slow for his normal 5K, but it was very crowded)
Robert came in at 22:25
Marissa and Katie came in at 25:08 (slower than their last 5K but much more crowded)
Betsy came in at 27:09 (almost 3 minutes faster than last year's time)

What a great feeling!  We all had a great time - everyone except Mark.  He would have preferred to run, but he was a great supporter waiting for us at the finish line.
