Eminence - Game #4

12/10 - home game against Eminence.  We didn't play them last year so we have no idea what to expect, except that our JV team blew them out of the water 56-6.

This game was a blow out from the start.  

First quarter:  26-2

second quarter:  33-7

third quarter:  53-10

fourth quarter:  68-13.

Jessica had 18 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 2 blocked shots.  

AWESOME GAME!  HER BEST YET!!!

Louisville Collegiate - Game #3

12/7/10 - Home game against Louisville Collegiate.

Jessica has such a presence on the court - it's awesome.  The team did fantastic.  We won 51-30.  We again held the lead the entire game.

Jessica had 5 points, 2 deflections, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.

Shawnee - Game #2

This was quit the different game from PRP:  Everyone had the one under their belts (so to speak) and now were ready to play hard on the court.  Jessica had to play against the 6'5" girls #40.  She was just so tall.

Even so:  the Lady Mustangs won 65-51.  They held the lead the entire game.
Jessica had 8 points, 2 deflections, 1 assist, 13 rebounds, and 3 steals.

PRP - game #1

 The proud momma - ready to get game #1 underway!  What a great feeling it is having a senior playing high school varsity basketball, giving it her all and working so hard at it every day!  I love watching her play, and love it even more when she and her team do well, win games or play as a team.

 At half time the Lady Mustangs have the lead 22-18.  AWESOME.  Let's keep it up girls.

Only 3 minutes left:  Lucy fouls out - that leads to massive trouble

We were ahead 36-28 at the start of the fourth quarter, but then when Lucy fouled out, the younger players that replaced her fell under pressure.  We lost our 8 point lead to lose by 15.  Final score 58-43.

Jessica had 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot.  It wasn't bad but it wasn't her best.  What was good was now the team had the first game jitters out of their system and know they could have won this game if they had stayed strong until the end.

Tunnel Mill Camp out

The boys had a BLAST at the Tunnel Mill camp out because they were able to have a snow ball fight after cleaning up breakfast.

Okay, so now let's go backwards a bit.  The boys leave the area around 6:00 p.m. to go to Tunnel Mill, IN.  They have to pitch tents in the dark - but now worries.  It's going to get to 18 degrees at night so Devon made sure to pack the heater, propane an hand warmers for both he and Robert.  What a great scout!

Devon said they stayed warm so long as there was propane, but when it ran out, they were colder...well that's a given, but they didn't get too cold.

The next morning everyone helped make breakfast, clean up camp, and jump into a massive snow ball fight, with forts and all.  Wish I was there with the camera!  That would be great fun.

Casual time with Sandy

Okay, I know this isn't the most attractive photo, but it is quite fun.

I was teaching Sandy how to use Facebook and Skype while watching the Jets get blown out on Monday night football (something I never have time to watch).  So we took a photo from my webcam and posted it online.  We sent messages via Facebook to all her friends!  Too fun!

Sandy still loves to yell at the TV even though those players don't listen to her!  shame on them!

Trip to Toledo, Oh to see Grandma Rennhack

Okay, so Saturday morning I make Chris and Sandy get up and leave by 6:15 EST (3:15 Seattle time).  Sandy sleeps most of the trip up while Chris stays up to chat with me which was very nice considering that we had to drive in snow.

Yes, it snowed sometime between coming home from Jessica's game and 6:00 a.m.  It all worked out fine, but I did have to drive about 10 miles under the speed limit until I got to Dayton, OH.  Ironically, the further north I went the less snow I encountered.

We arrived in Toledo in time to check in early at the hotel and get a few things at the local Target before going over to see Grandma.  It was around lunchtime so we took her over to Bob Evans to enjoy a lunch.

Not only was it fantastic that Sandy was visiting with me, but (against all odds) Kirstie and Johnny flew up to Detroit and drove down to Toledo, OH for the visit.  She and Johnny met us at the Bob Evans.  It was a great reunion!

It was four years ago almost exactly that the three of us were together with Grandma for Grandpa's funeral.  It was so nice to be together for no reason at all except to be with our Grandma during the holidays.  We finished up at Bob Evans and spent the remainder of the day at Grandma's condo swapping stories from the past - laughing the whole time.  It was super great to have Johnny and Chris along.  They added to the merriment nicely!

We had dinner at Chili's before Kirstie and Johnny had to get on their way back to Detroit.  Johnny was meeting some friends from college up there.

Sandy, Chris and I took Grandma to visit with her cousin, Charlotte (who is now in assisted living due to gall bladder surgery).  Grandma can't get over there to see her due to her poor eye sight.  She is nearly completely blind now.

The next day we spent chatting with Grandma and going over past photos.  I love it when Grandma shares her memories.  We were going to eat at Cracker Barrell but the line was so long from two buses coming in that we opted for Panera Bread.  YUM!

It's always hard for me to say goodbye to grandma.  I never know if it's the last time she'll be able to see, or if it's the last time period.  She's 92 and still so sharp in the mind but very fragile in body.  I hate that she is alone now that Grandpa has passed away and can't really go anywhere either.

After a uneventful drive home - it was so nice to be back.

Sandy comes for a visit

This is so great!  On December 2, my sister Sandy flew in from Kirkland, WA (near Seattle) with her boyfriend, Chris for a visit!

It has been four years since we've seen each other, and a lot has transpired in that amount of time.  Markel and Alex have graduated and moved out (actually Markel is back), Sandy divorced Blaine and is now dating Chris.  Anyway ...

We spent Friday together shopping and touring the area.  She was introduced a bit to my crazy life when I had to pick up the girls food order and deliver it to the high school by 3:30.  Then get home to feed the kids, and leave again to be at the high school for the first games of the season for both JV and Varsity teams.  Why do I have to be at JV - because I am the team statistician - how did that happen?

They were great troopers!  Mark and I had to sit at the officials table, while Sandy, Chris and Marissa sat behind us (Devon and Robert are on a campout at Tunnel Mill, IN).

Unfortunately, the girls team lost but they held the lead until the last 3 minutes of the game when Lucy Gibson fouled out.  Then her replacements couldn't handle the pressure.  SO SAD.  We were up by 8 and lost by 13.  Jessica had a good game, but not her best...that came on Saturday (but we didn't get to see it).
