New Beginnings - Marissa is a big girl

February 10, 2010 was the Crestwood 1st Ward - New Beginnings night. It was such a beautiful night, especially for Marissa because she was one of the recognized new Beehives. It is so hard for me to comprehend that my "little" Marissa is a Beehive in Young Women. She's actually been in Young Women's for eleven months (since her birthday), but since her birthday was after New Beginnings last year, she had to wait for this year's to be officially welcomed into the Young Women's Program.

Marissa loves being a Beehive. She loves meeting with her friends on Sunday and at mid-week activities. This year she was able to participate in the Young Women's basketball program. She is such a sweetheart, and always has a cheerful smile.

Congratulations Marissa - we love you!

MORE SNOW - AGAIN!!

Pictures are worth 1000 words - thank goodness, because I'm too tired from shoveling all that snow to write.
snickers wanted out but then decided it was too cold.
I love this photo! I admit I have wrinkles, but I still have fun!
See what I mean about all the snow!
Robert loved every minute of it. He would go in and out all day. He and Marissa built snow forts, had snow ball fights, and went sledding.

MORE SNOW - YEAH!!!

Let it SNOW! Talk about snow - look at that. On Monday, Feb. 8 we had school, then two days off due to snow. The very next week we had Monday, Feb. 15 and Tuesday off school (maybe even more).
So just like when you get lemons we should make lemonade, when it snows we should make "sledding, snowmen, and snow forts". We love to play in the SNOW!

Getting very close to mommy! Watch out!
Everyone pile on for a cool ride:

More snow - 8 inches more! I think there is over 2 feet of snow on my back deck because of the snow drifts off the roof!

LET IT SNOW

We love it when it snows. Everyone joins in the chilly fun.

After getting the drive way shoveled we all go sledding.

More Complications

Hi,

Wow, my life just became even more complicated. I was going to start working full time as a substitute teacher for an aid going on maternity leave starting 2/15 (which was perfect because it was after the JV tournament, Marissa's games, Devon's games, and the Valentine's Dance - that I am in charge of) however, they needed me to start a week early - yikes!!!

Sometimes it just seems like there are more demands on you than you can possibly manage, and then you realize you are forgetting to ask the Lord for help. I know I can make it through this challenging time...I just need help!

Game #21 - Trimble

From the first tip to the last second, the Lady Mustangs controlled the game. Jessica won the tip, the ball went to Amanda and the game goes on.

fighting for the rebound.

Jessica's stats: 2 points, 3 deflections, 4 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and a charge taken.

Game #20 - Eastern

Going into this game we expected not to win - they are ranked 11 points higher than us, but it was still worth giving everything we had, and they did - except for our shots. For some really strange reason despite playing a tough offensive and defensive game - we couldn't get our shots to go through the hoop. All of our top scorers didn't score - Olivia had 0, Meghan had 0, Nicole had 8 (usually double digits). As a matter of fact, Nicole was high scorer for the team with only 8.

Jessica had 3 points, 1 assist, 11 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Game #19 - KCD: A disappointing loss

Our first game against KCD was canceled due to snow. This was the game that "didn't go as expected" - for the wrong way. We are ranked 20 points over KCD, but (if you asked me) the girls thought they had this one in the bag so much that they didn't play very aggressive.

The second factor in this loss was that the coaches decided to pull Jessica every time she got a foul, 1st quarter - 1 foul - she was pulled. 2nd quarter - 2nd foul - she was pulled. 3rd quarter - 3rd foul...yikes ...she was benched; even when the team didn't protect the paint.

The girls would get a very comfortable lead and then Jessica would go out of the game and KCD would inch their way back up. In the end KCD caught up and then made one to take the lead. We had to foul them to stop the clock, and they made both shots. Now we are down by 4 - buzzer - game over. Bummer!
Jessica's stats: 2 points, 1 deflection, 8 rebounds and only 13 minutes.

Game #18 - Win against Beechwood

This was such an important game since we lost to Bethlehem. The girls have had a few games away, so it is nice to finally have a home game! Betsy (and Mark) is the biggest fan of Jessica's team.

Betsy (Jessica's mom) and Deanna (Lucy's mom): Junior Moms!

and the basket! 2 points!

Another amazing rebound for Jessica & Olivia
#24 fouled Jessica so hard that she made her bleed:
Jessica couldn't take her free throws and had to be out the rest of the game since blood got on her uniform.

The team won - 60-52!

Jessica had 8 points & 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 blocked shot and 2 charges taken.
(if she didn't have to go out she could have had a double double).
